EC One on One Aide/Migrant Tutor Full time with benefits

 

Alleghany County Schools are seeking a split funded Special Education One on One Aide and Migrant Tutor to be staffed at Sparta School under the supervision of a lead teacher and Migrant Coordinator.  

The one on one aide position requires an individual with the ability to work with an individual student.  The skills and responsibilities necessary for this role are:

• Ability to assist the individual student by modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments; 
• Ability to work with a student to help develop appropriate behavioral/social skills;
• Ability to assist student with learning in order to reinforce learning concepts presented by the teacher; 
• Monitor the safety and well being of the student;
• Participate in staff development as directed.

The Migrant Education Program Tutor provides academic support to eligible migrant students to help close achievement gaps and promote academic success. The skills and responsibilities necessary for this role are:

• Provide individual or small group tutoring to migrant students during the school day as directed.
• Support students with homework completion, test preparation, and study skills.
• Assist students in developing English language proficiency.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify student needs and support strategies.
• Document services provided and maintain accurate student logs as required by the Migrant Education Program.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Migrant Program Coordinator or school administration.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or 48 college credit hours preferred.
• Experience working with children with disabilities is highly desirable.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Experience working with migrant students, English learners, or diverse populations is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to equity in education.
• Ability to work independently and follow through with assigned tasks.
• Must maintain Confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.

Must be willing to obtain a CDL with Bus driver endorsement
